Joint Calls 2014

One of the priorities in the 'Partnership for Modernisation' between the EU and Russia is to enhance cooperation in innovation, research and development. In this context ERA.Net RUS Plus implemented two Joint Calls for transnational and scientifically excellent research projects: one on 'Innovation', and one for 'S&T projects' in the fields of Nanotechnologies/Materials/Production Technologies, Health, Environment/Climate Change, and Social Sciences/Humanities.

Joint Call for Innovation Projects

Call opened: 31 March 2014 | Call closed: 28 May 2014

The 2nd round (submission of full proposals) ended on 2 December 2014.

The goal of the call was to create a long-term research collaboration in the field of innovation between EU Member States/Associated Countries and Russia. Innovative research collaboration of a high standard between teams from EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and Russia were supported through an open competition.

EU-Russia collaborative innovation projects can be funded in research areas thematically assigned to innovative technologies of high utiliza-tion and with a high market potential and of particular importance for the EU as well as for Russia.

By innovation projects are meant joint R&D projects designed to lead to innovative products, services or processes of significant econo-mic and/or societal value. Compared to the rather advanced cooperation between the EU and Russia in the field of basic research, the coop-eration in the field of innovation still bears a lot of potential to be exploited. Against this background this joint activity shall also address applied research and technology development implemented by small sized innovative research performing enterprises in Russia in partnership with universities and/or non-university public or private research performing institutions/companies from EU.
